Vampires werewolves and fairies oh my! We believe these things to be creatures of fantasy, but we were wrong. Though the numbers of these mythical creatures are dwindling, they are very much alive and even some managed to walk among us undetected.
However hard to believe, the fact still remains of that these creatures are living, breathing, and walking among us. And just like humans they can range from menacing to meek, though most are nothing to be feared and have no desire to interfere in the human realm at all.
Once revered and powerful in their own right, vampires have dwindled in numbers. In fact only one coven remains, although there are still those that wander about on their own. The Theroe family is the last and oldest standing coven left, partly due to their codependent relationship with a small pack of werewolves that share their land. In fact it has become a common practice werewolves to be taken on as bodyguards to young vampires, however this only happens with noble families. This includes Alister's two sons; Othello, the oldest, and Artemis the youngest.
Life was peaceful for many decades, until Lucinda fell ill. With Alister and her youngest son Artemis at her bedside she passed away in her sleep. Grief stricken at the loss of his beloved wife, Alister fell deathly ill himself. Alister knew it was only a matter of time before his own passing. Othello knew this as well and began preparing to take over his father's place as leader of the coven. But Alister sensed something sinister in his eldest son, and Othello's choice in mate did not help this matter in the slightest, for she was cool cold and manipulative. Alister decided that it was best to elect his youngest son to the throne, which upset Othello greatly. Feeling betrayed by his father, he was not going to take this lying down. Othello felt that the throne was rightfully his. With pressure from his mate, Zolanna, Othello took out his frustration on the wolves.
While his brother began segregating the vampires from the werewolves, Artemis looked after his father. With no desire to rule, Artemis begged his father to reconsider but Alister would have none of it. He knew that if the coven and pack were going to survive they would need one another and Artemis would be the only one capable of working with the alpha wolf. However with most of the coven ready to follow Othello, Artemis had no idea how he could fill his father shoes.
With time running out Alister informed his son that to ascend the throne he would have to take a mate. This would prove to be more difficult than initially thought, as most thought that Othello should lead the coven after Alister passed. Seeing that Artemis was getting nowhere, and his demise was drawing nearer, Alister sends Artemis to the mortal realm to find a wife.
Having no experience with the human world, Artemis' close friend Wil Kolak, the newly appointed alpha, offers his assistance in courting a mortal into accepting him as a partner. However Wil has not had contact with the mortal world since he was turned in the early 60s which proves to be a problem. Many women have different views and are far more independent than they were back in his time. However this is not the most difficult part. With the secrecy of their world and the lives of many relying on that secret, they cannot let anyone with that information live. With conventional means of disposing the bodies unreliable, both Wil and Artemis are left with no choice but to do something that sickens them both to their core.
After many months of loneliness and self-loathing, Artemis decides that the next human female he goes for is going to be his bride even if he has to drag her home kicking and screaming.
They come to a small suburban town and decide to check out the community college campus. Artemis figures that he is bound to find someone intelligent and poised, but no one catches his eye. Frustrated, tired, and ready to throw in the towel, Wil spots an attractive redheaded female with stunning blue eyes (Chyanne Vole) and decides to tail her and her friends. They find themselves at a local record shop where Artemis notes that the female they were following seems to be spoken for by the shop's owner, an attractive dark skinned male with an outlandish haircut and pierced lips (Buxton Mathers). However the girl with her (Nanette Vole) does not have the sense of another male on her. Thin and pale, almost sickly looking, with long black hair, Artemis decides that she should be easy to handle and pursues her.
After following the two females it becomes apparent that they are of the same family. This poses a new problem; how to take one without the other noticing? Unable to continue with the bloody trail behind them, Wil decides to claim the redheaded female as his own, feeling that ending her life as a waste of potential.
Neither Nanette or Chyanne is keen on this whole idea. Thinking both men are delusional Chyanne fights tooth and nail.
When Buxton arrives at their house, he hears screaming yelling and fighting, but when he rushes in to make sure that the girls are safe, Buxton meets an unfortunate end at the hands of Wil.
Unable to cause even more pain, the men decide to bury the body rather than dispose of him in front of the females.
As they make their way back, the eldest of the reaper sisters, Finem, decides to bring Buxton into her family, giving him new life as a reaper. With the rich pigment gone from his skin and the dye from his hair, Buxton finds himself at the beck and call of his new trouble making sisters. Frightened at first by the sugar skull skined women, Buxton finds that it is the best way to get his girl back.
Meanwhile tensions grow between the coven and surrounding clans. With the dark fey queen Sarcelle angered that Artemis has refused to rule under her foot as her subservient King, she is preparing to wage war on the still faltering and weakened coven. With her eager followers she intends to make life for the coven a living pain wracked nightmare. However, Zolanna has offered a deal; if Sarcelle will help ensure her husband's rule she will give her Artemis as a peace offering between the two clans. Keeping this to herself and not telling her husband, as she intends to overthrow him herself and have her lover take his place.
While his brother is on his quest, Othello finds himself at the mercy of three younger werewolves who have taken to proving their self-worth by playing progressively violent pranks on him because he is pushing to break the ties of peace and harmony vampires and werewolves have held by forcing them to become subservient to the vampires. He is often curt and agressive to his once friend and guard, Ed, who was injured and is now stuck between forms with the mental state of the child. Despite all of this, things are not always as they seem. Othello actually feels guilty for Eds current state and only wishes to make the werewolves subservient as to limit their freedom so he may keep a closer watch on them and keep them safe, but he fears that if his true motives are known it will come across as a sign of weakness.
To make matters worse members of a dying breed, three dragons, decide to interbreed with females belonging to the coven including the alpha’s new mate Chyanne, Artemis' soon to be wife Nanette, and Othello's wife Zolanna, although she is already a willing participant and his already taken the dragons current leader as a lover.
With their world on the precipice of war and violence, only time can tell which way the scales shall tip...
